neurodivergence & relationships
If you are discovering your own neurodivergence—or trying to understand what it means for your relationship—you are welcome here.
I enjoy working with adults with late-in-life diagnosis of ADHD or Level 1 Autism and neurodiverse couples.
A late diagnosis can bring a new understanding of life-long experiences that may have been confusing, frustrating, or even traumatic. It often leads to questions about identity, relationships, and what this new understanding means for the future.
Neurodiverse couples refers to relationships in which partners have different neurotypes: one partner may be neurotypical and the other neurodivergent, or each has a different form of neurodivergence, such as ADHD and Autism. Like all differences between partners, having differently wired brains can affect communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, executive functioning, intimacy, routines, and expectations.
Neurodiversity has shaped my life both personally and professionally. As a therapist, I am continuously expanding my knowledge and skills in this area, including specialized training in RLT (Relational Life Therapy) for neurodiverse relationships.
My goal is to help individuals and couples understand these differences without turning them into blame or making neurodivergence the explanation for everything that happens. I will help you create a framework to make sense of what you've been experiencing as an important step toward greater self and mutual understanding and more effective ways of relating.
