 About Kathy

I bring both professional training and real-world perspective into the room.  Outside the therapy office, I'm a wife, mom, bonus mom, mom-in-law, and grandma (aka "nana"--best gig ever). I'm an Iowa native who has lived, worked, traveled, and built relationships in different parts of the U.S. and the world. I have the good fortune of being bilingual (English/Spanish) and having people from many cultures, backgrounds, histories, orientations, and walks of life in my orbit. There are so many beautiful ways to be human.

Before becoming a therapist, I taught college students and worked as a translator and interpreter. I've also dipped my toes in real estate, renovated a few fixer-uppers with my husband, and learned that the best projects—whether houses or relationships—take patience, honesty, and the willingness to get a little messy if it will make things better in the long run.

If I'm not working, I'm probably browsing an estate sale for something very cool that I do not need, throwing paint on a canvas for the sheer joy of it (100% amateur), listening to a podcast, napping (so underrated), watching movies or crime shows with the husband, taking another class, or passing time with my people.
